For Pao, the moon is connected to creativity, dreaming and femenine energy. Her message in No Apagues La Luna reflects this inspiration. “Writing the EP was a way for me to say ‘keep your dreams alive and don’t let go of them.’ I gave myself permission to be free, to explore, to try different things and to be playful. To be more like a kid. I reconnect a lot to my inner child because I think as a child you’re so honest and you’re so you.” When Pao went to bed as a small child, she would tell her dad, “Papi! No apagues la luna (“don’t turn off the moon”),” when he would turn off the lights. She brings this spirit into No Apagues La Luna.
